| Minnesota bred horses are currently eligible to race for
purses ranging from $4000 to $6000. Races for Minnesota breds are held at several
meets throughout the season. What are the requirements for your horse to be
eligible as a Minnesota bred?
The main requirement is that the mare was bred to a stallion registered with the
Minnesota Racing Commission as an eligible stallion. Currently, the Racing
Commission requires that the mare must have been bred through natural cover.
In 2005, Minnesota will offer more purse money than ever before to harness racing.
In 2006, Minnesota bred horses could be eligible for $200,000 or more in purse
supplements. Breeder's awards will also increase to an amount never before seen in
this state. Now is the time to get in at the ground level.
