Dan
Patch, p. 1:55 (1896-1916)
Probably one of the most famous racehorses of all time.
Dan Patch was foaled in Indiana and later bought by M.W. Savage. He was
unbeaten throughout his race career and eventually raced against only the clock.
Dan Patch is still celebrated today, with races being named
after him, and the most prestigious awards conferred by the United States Harness writers
are the Dan Patch awards.
